Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician
Dr. Thomas Starnes is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He attended medical school at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Florida before also completing a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at University of Florida. He provided medical care for the Florida Gators during both regular season SEC and postseason NCAA events during his fellowship. In fellowship, he worked with the medical director of a UCI World Tour cycling team, and he is interested in cycling medicine and sports performance.
His other professional interests include ultrasound-guided procedures, non-surgical management of acute and overuse orthopedic injuries, and non-surgical management of osteoarthritis. He is board certified in internal medicine with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
He is a native North Carolinian, and he and his wife and children enjoy the many outdoor activities that western North Carolina has to offer.
Dr. Starnes sees patients at our Biltmore Park office.

Restricted VisitationTo ensure a safe care environment, AOA is allowing one visitor per patient to accompany the patient to the exam room. If an interpreter is necessary, we may limit the total number of people with the patient. Visitors must be over the age of 16 and meet screening criteria prior to entering the facility.
