Dr. Brent Fisher joined Asheville Orthopaedic Associates in June 2016. He is a primary care sports medicine physician who specializes in non-operative orthopedic care, including musculoskeletal ultrasound evaluations and guided injections. He also treats concussion and has prior experience in sideline management of high school, university and professional sports teams, including being part of the coverage team for the 2014 NBA All Star game in New Orleans, LA.
He is originally from Bowling Green, KY and completed his medical degree at University of Louisville School of Medicine. This was followed by a research year with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Louisville during which time he published several papers focusing on issues in sports medicine and orthopedic trauma. He then completed his family medicine residency with Spartanburg Health System in Spartanburg, SC, where he was a chief resident. Following residency, he completed his fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he covered a local high school, UNC, North Carolina Central University, the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team, multiple Atlantic Coast Conference events, and the Special Olympics. He is board certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
He is a veteran of several medical mission trips to Guatemala, Honduras, Uganda, Haiti and Bangladesh.
When not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and extended family, as well as cycling, running, hiking, playing soccer and photography.
